I know there are some people out there that love Jennifer Hudson, I am not one of them, but I know they exist. SO, here is her new single from the Sex And The City Movie Soundtrack called “All Dressed Up In Love.”  It’s actually not that bad, a lot better than that hideous new Fergie single off the same album.

raven.pngI am trying to stick to posting about music as-of-late, but I couldnt resist writing a little tid-bid about this article I just clicked on while browsing CNN’s website today. I have to say, the title along with the picture really gives me a better understanding of the exact proportions in which Raven-Symone is indeed not a little kid. In fact I would say she has grown to “big kid” type measurments rather largely. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that even without that tagline, CNN, I propably would have been able to use other context-clues like those “big kid” arms or that “big girl” dress to come to the conclusion that yes, she is not a little kid anymore.

I was going #1 today and I realized I really hate public restrooms. I mean, when I was in Junior high I would go at all at school, I’d walk to my house (which thankfully was only a few blocks away) but I didnt realize that I was leaving school all those times unatended, weird but it just grossed me out. Anyhow, for all you folks with wierd issues like mine, I present the BOYS ROOM MIX

This post originally began as a collection of cheesy theme songs, but eventually grew into a mass of songs from the soundtracks of movies I love and adore. A good majority of them are 80s classics since I was born in ‘80, but there are some newer and older gems mixed in too. I had a lot of fun gathering them, since just hearing them brings back tons of good movie viewing memories (read as: being able to eat a box of milk duds without worries). It also reminded me of how much I’ve always wanted the opportunity to compile a soundtrack for a movie. I have no idea how you get that gig, but I would imagine it takes knowing someone who knows someone, or putting together your own film. Hmm. Maybe one day that dream will come true.

Queen - Flash (From Flash Gordon)
Barry de Vorzon - The Warriors Theme (From The Warriors)
The Dickies - Killer Klowns (From Killer Klowns From Outer Space)
Cherry Bomb - Howard The Duck (From Howard The Duck)

First I would like point out the obvious. SANTOGOLD IS PUCKING GOLD GLITTER ON HER ALBUM COVER. Holy Shit.

Oh Miss Santogold, how Iwe love you! Santogold is no stranger to Glitter and Gold. I have loved her since day one. Her emotionally driven vocals, and her passion make you believe every word she says to the very last punctuation mark. There is nothing dull about this lady. I thought that she would just be another M.I.A, but they dont even compare. She has definately proved herself to be a unique artist who has the ability to cross all boundries, and cover all genres. Here is a littly ditty I dug up today, that is quit entertaining. A Santogold and Justice mashup. I saw this, and thought to myself “DISASTER”. But its quite the contrary. Its pretty awesome.

St. Vincent - Marry Me
If you haven’t already been seduced by the spirited and spunky being that is St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark), shame on you. stvincent.jpgShe is refreshing like only a  female can be (i do mean that!) and she’s fucking brilliant. Choral and electronic elements hold hands with grungy, sexy love notes in a marriage (har har) of swanky pop wonder, with bountifully quotable lyrics to boot. It’s too late to do the review i’d like to, but suffice to say this gets my Absolutely Tip Top Music Of Summer 2008, Hands Down award.

If you havn’t heard of these little buggers, or if you have and ignored them, be a nice neighbor and give them a hug. Forever the Sickest Kids (MySpace site) are killing it, so, just what is it about Forever the Sickest Kids that’s so irresistible? Beyond the obvious – the sky-high hooks, impressive musicality and sonic diversity – there’s a spirit to the songs that’s inspiring. Even when the lyrics are cynical and the tone bittersweet, there’s a feeling that, beyond the rocky curve, more good times lay ahead.

Recalling the inaugural Shameless post, here’s a round-up of some of the best guilty pleasures you’ll ever find. Of course, the Spice Girls are necessary for any pop fan and aren’t even all that guilty of a pleasure considering their ubiquitous presence. Solo Spice Girls, however, are another story. As seen with Geri Halliwell, it’s not always so easy to admit to liking an ex-Spice Girl’s work. Regardless, I have a decent collection on my computer and feel the need to share, so feel free to anonymously download and listen in the privacy of your own headphones as needed. First up are two of Emma Bunton’s singles, both of which are excellent 60s bossa nova-infused retro pop numbers. Victoria Beckham has only released a few singles, but (if nothing else) her single “Let Your Head Go” is a throbbing dance track worth hearing. Previously featured Geri Halliwell flopped hard with her last album Passion, so the great “Love Never Loved Me” unfortunately never saw the light of day. After those selections, check out some hot remixes, including old and new Spice Girls club mixes and two Emma remixes.

Emma Bunton, “Maybe” [YSI] (from Free Me)
Emma Bunton, “Crickets Sing For Anamaria” [YSI] (from Free Me)
Victoria Beckham, “Let Your Head Go” (Radio Edit) [YSI]
Geri Halliwell, “Love Never Loved Me” [YSI] (from Passion)

Remixes:
Spice Girls, “Who Do You Think You Are” (Morales Club Mix) [YSI]
Spice Girls, “Wannabe” (Soulseekerz 2007 Club Mix) [YSI]
Emma Bunton, “Free Me” (Dr. Octavo Seduction Remix) [YSI]
Emma Bunton, “Downtown” (Element Remix) [YSI]

This one’s for those of you who remember the 80’s Acid house era …ahhh memories, with artists like Lil Louis, 808 State, Fast Eddie and S’Express, started by Mark Moore. Well Mr. Moore has recently brought back S’Express from the past and has released a new song on the Kitsune record label called “Stupid Little Girls.” With mixes by JBAG and eon, you should be sure to pick up the album.

Got back from the bloggeriffic Black Kids + Cut Copy + Simian Mobile Disco show this past Saturday. Man, that was a packed show. Black Kids performed well! Mixing new songs with the established ones from their EP, they managed to whip the crowd into a frenzy for Cut Copy.

I also had this great remix of “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You” by The Twelves sent to me and I thought you should all hear it. It does a body good. It’s got that smooth 80’s sound that Chromeo loves also…

Does It Offend You, Yeah? — four English blokes with a silly name stolen from the UK version of The Office— to hammer that distinction home. A highly-touted live act, DIOYY rock the sticky club floor with grungy riffs, rumbling synths, screaming chants, and cowbells galore. You Have No Idea What You’re Getting Yourself Into slams one propulsive rave-up after another until you don’t know whether to rock, roll, shimmy, shag, or just flop around like a fish out of water.

There’s plenty of motivation to keep you on your feet, from the Kraftwerk-meets-Nirvana stomp of “We Are Rockstars”(Rightclick+save as) to the Primal Scream punk of the first single, “Let’s Make Out.(Video)” DIOYY’s relentless attack turns the old concept of DOR upside-down into Rock-Oriented Dance: ROD. Consider us offended in the best possible way.
