Hip hop star Kanye West was beyond consolation yesterday after his mother died while getting cosmetic surgery.
Donda West, Kanye’s manager, died following complications while getting surgery in hospital in Los Angeles. She was 58. It was unclear exactly what work she was getting, but Kanye was in London when he was told the devastating news.
In May, she published the book “Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star,” in which she paid homage to her famous son. Kanye West’s writing partner Rhymefest lamented Donda West’s death Sunday in an appearance on Chicago radio station WCGI. “She was everyone’s mom,” Rhymefest said. “A spirit never dies, a spirit lasts forever.”
The worst thing in the world is losing your mom, THE WORST! I can not even imagine having to deal with this. Kanye was VERY close to her, and I know this is probably going to be one o the biggest hurdles of his life. I know that he has said some crazy, whacko and down right self-centered things, but my thoughts and prayers are defiantly with him.
