Last night, as all you people worth-a-damn know, was the Season Premeire of LOST on ABC. Our pals Emily and John at “The Couch” have put together a little recap of this week’s episode (AND they will every week for us, so look here for it!) So without any more of our chatter-boxy mouth, here it is.
The Beginning of the End.
Well folks here we are just as the title of this episodes states this is the beginning of them end and in true LOST for we find that we have more questions than answers, are still confused about the time line and of course our jaws are sore from them hitting the floor so many times. And we would not be any happier.
Today in my office there was a small discussion about the show where many of the guys in the office compared this show to a girl talking about giving you a lap dance but then of course never delivering. I would like to think of Lost more like the ultimate foreplay and that in the end there will be a big pay off. (At least I hope there will be) True fans are in this for the long haul the good the bad. Those who want instant gratification, there is a strip club down by the airport that is open 24 hours a day, get your rocks off there.
So now we are in present day in the Lost universe and our flashbacks are to the island. For the first time the season opener has not been someone’s eye popping open, this time we think we are seeing a pile of coconuts on the island instead we are in shipping yard in LA, following a Camaro down the ten freeway. Side note to all of those Angelinos reading this. That car chase has to have happened on a national holiday cause the ten freeway is never that clear. It is like Sigalert heaven.
Anyway the car crashes and we see who the driver is. Hurley. As the cops arrest him he begins to scream don’t you know who I am I am one of the Oceanic 6. Cue the creepy lost music,
That folks was jaw drop 1 for season four. We know that only 6 people make is off of the island. Jack, Kate and now Hurley. So who else made it?
We find out that Hurley see someone in a convenience store that triggers is running. We also get to see Ana Lucia’s old partner. When he asks is Hurley knew her he says no. Huh? You don’t remember her getting shot and the collective cheer heard round the world when she died? Hurley gets committed to a loony bin and soon gets visitor who says that they are from Oceanic airlines and wants to upgrade his accommodations. When he declines he cryptically asks Hurley are they still alive? Mini Jaw drop 2 who are they?!
Back in the Island Desmond breaks the news that Charlie is dead and the group on the beach decide to meet the radio tower crew half way to let them know that it is not Penny’s boat and they may be in danger. The group at the radio tower realizes that Naomi who Locke stabbed hello in the back has now disappeared. Kate think that she left them a fake blood trail and Jack thinks that she is to hurt to actually do that they hug goodbye and part ways to look for Naomi. We find out that not only was Kate right about the fake trailer but she lifted the phone from Jack. Once a con always a con. Naomi puts a knife to Kate’s throat and she makes the call to the ship fixing the phone and getting them rescue. Her dying words tell my sister I love her.
Hurley gets separated from the group and finds himself at Jacob’s shack. He looks in the window and we see someone in the rocking chair wearing white sneakers. Hello Jack and Claire’s DAD!!!!! Jaw drop 3 Mind explosion 1. And then an eye appears. (We think it was Locke) and he runs. But the shack keeps reappearing and then Locke shows up.
They meet up with the rest of the crew, hugs happen, tears are shed and then Jack punches Locke in the head. Jack holds the gun to Locke’s head as Locke says I was not going to shoot you Jack anymore than you are going to shoot me, cue Jack pulling the trigger with no bullets in the chamber. Jaw drop 4 Jack was going to blow Locke’s Head off!!!! Jack has balls!!!
Back in the loony bin Hurley gets two visitors. The first comes in the form of Charlie. Jaw drop 5 and head scratcher 1. Charlie tells Hurley that he is dead but is also here and proves it by smacking him, Huh what the hell does that mean Charlie? There are days that I feel dead inside and I am still here. SO is he real or is he not real? We still don’t know. He tells Hurley that they need you. Again who are they?
Hurley’s second visitor comes in the form of clean looking suited up Jack. They play some basketball and Hurley says if you have come here to see if I have said anything I haven’t. He then tells Jack that he is sorry for going with Locke that he should have stayed with him. Hurley then tries to convince Jack that they have to go back, when Jack says never Hurley cryptically replies, never say never.
Back on the island speeches are made as to if the rescue is real and is Charlie’s death in vain if they decide to get off of the island even thought he warned them not too. It is Locke vs. Jack. We know, Claire, Hurley, Sawyer and others go with Locke and that Rose says that she is not going anywhere with Locke. Ben who was perfectly snarky in this episode Asks Jack for permission to go with Locke. The groups depart and we are left with Jack and Kate by the wreckage of the plane when they hear what sounds like helicopters and sees people parachuting from the sky. Once they land the first words out of their mouth are you Jack?
Here are the questions looming in our head:
If the guy in the rocking chair is Jack’s Dad is he one of the Oceanic Six? In Jack’s flash forward from last season, he does say get my farther down here and if I am as drunk as he is. Hmmmm is dear old Dad still alive; there was no body in the casket.
Who are they that are being referred to? And why is Hurley so hell bent on going back and as we know from last season Jack’s tune changes and he thinks they need to go back.
One more thing we hope you watched Eli Stone because you wanted to and it is a good show but also because there was a very important commercial from Oceanic Airlines. As the stewardesses are touting the gold pass there is some interference and we see a man who tells us not to believe what they are saying that they found the real oceanic airlines and shows a picture of a plane UNDERWATER!!! Jaw drop 6.
Damn you Lost. You leave us with more questions than answers and for some reason that just makes us love you more.
