Browsing in Fergie

Well, looks like the trannylicious Fergie has done it again, with her new song “Labels or Love” from the Feature Film version of “Sex and the City”. All she really does is spell things and tell you what brands are worth buying (or in Fergie’s case “If you send me a free bag I’ll put your name in my song Mr. Marc Jacobs!”) Oh, and “Sex and the City” producers, I wanna kick you in the throat right about now. Letting Fergie sample the theme song over-and-over is the worst thing since Gwen sampled “The Sound of Music”, and that didn’t even bother me that much. The only positive spin I can put on this song is that maybe it will give all of us riding the subway or working out while listening to it, a mental shopping journey. I love me a good dose of Fergie every now and then, I mean I have to be in the mood for her (alot like Josh Duhamel I’m sure) but non-the-less I like her at times. I just don’t think the world needed another Tranny-anthem, we have “Shoes” by Kelly, we’re good.

Speaking of Tranny’s, “Girlicious” has a video, sort of.

Well I haven’t blogged lately because I haven’t really had the time to click on anything remotely entertaining in the past 2 weeks. With a move from LA to NY, a new job at PageSix.com which went under as of yesterday, a move to The New York Post, and now unpacking all of boxes in my apartment. I am finally able to let my brain take a big huge stinky pop-culture poo. So here we go. My favorite things online for your downloading pleasure….

1) Nelly feat. Fergie - Party People - Party People is Nelly’s new single from his upcoming album Brass Knuckles. It’s a crazy banger produced by Polow Da Don, and featuring the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie. Hopefully this single makes more of an impact on radio than the lackluster Wadsyaname.

2) Amanda Overmyer - Back in the U.S.S.R. - A hot little number from one of the Top 12 on this seasons American Idol.

3) Madonna - 4 Minutes (Ft. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) - If you havn’t sean a recent commerical with this song in it, or turned on your FM dial…then shame on you! However, if you have you know exactly what all the hype is about. This may be my favorite find of March.

4) Santana ft. J.Lo & Baby Bash- ‘This Boy’s Fire’ - After the success of the first single ‘Into The Night’ featuring Chad Kroeger, Santana will be releasing ‘This Boy’s Fire’ featuring Jennifer Lopez and Baby Bash as his second single to Pop Radio. The song is sure to be Jennifer Lopez first hit in a long while and maybe will spark more interest in her next releases. The radio-edit of the song is a bit different than the album version- different beginning, and added beats and verses- so check it out! It’s definitely a hit song in the making.

5) Mariah Carey ft. The-Dream - Touch My Body (Remix)
I almost didn’t post this… I am scared of Mariah, as any blogger should be. But I sucked it up and decided it won’t be so bad if I let the world know the latest skankilicious jam freaking its way into my heart.

6) Jesse McCartney “Leavin’” (Bimbo Jones Radio Mix) - Look what Summerland resident has moved out of mommy’s house and is now playing with the big boys. Sans blonde locks and squeeky voice, this may be my favorite of his crap-ass collection.

7, 8, 9, 10 Need no Explanation! REMIXES BABY!

7) Ratatat - Wildcat (E*Vax Remix)
8) Menomena - Weird (Dekoder Remix)
9) Outkast - BOB (Diplo Remix)
10) Cadence Weapon - House Music (Bird Peterson Southbound Remix)

mashed51.gif I never post numerous songs on one download, Lord knows I’m way too picky to just download one URL with numerous songs….. HOWEVER, there are exceptions to every rule (I mean look at Julia Roberts acting career.) So now that I’ve pacified what I am about to do, I guess it’s time to post it. 51 Mashups, 1 Download…. thoughts?

michaeljackson.jpgGo Wacko Jacko! What a better way to pay off those Neverland tax collectors.

I am pretty confused. So this year Michael Jackson is releasing a Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Thriller collectors album “in honor” of the masterpiece. Now, why would you hook up with Akon, Fergie, and will.i.am to honor such glorious pop music?

Despite all the musical genius or whatever Dick Clark called will.i.am on New Year’s Eve, most of these remixes are pretty weak. My favorite is Kanye’s mix of “Billie Jean”, but even then, I am surprised at the mediocrity of it all. I see no reason for releasing a collectors item like this, if anything, these remixes deplete Thriller’s original mastery of rock/pop. Now it sounds just like most of the stuff you are annoyed by each time you walk down the street, or througha GAP to return this Christmas’ hideous stripped sweater.

TRACK LIST

1. Wanna Be Startin Somethin (Akon & Will.I.Am Remix) 4:10
2. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) (Will.I.Am Remix) 4:17
3. The Girl Is Mine (Will.I.Am Remix) 3:10
4. Billie Jean (Kanye West Remix) 4:33
5. Beat It (Fergie Remix) 4:09

katsu.jpgLiving in Los Angeles, I guess you kind of become numb as to what restaurant is cool when. Katsuya, another one of L.A.’s sushi joints, seems to be the kind of place you throw on a Roberto Cavali dress and act like your going to some swanky record release party. At least these four pop-princesses think it is… Fergie (ala Kids Incorporated/ Eden’s Crush fame), Nicole Scherzinger (ala Pussycat Dolls fame), Eve (ala I have tattoos of leopard paws so I’m vicious fame), & Mary J. Blige (ala, I have real talent unlike these other women fame.) It’s like they all happen to need publicity for their newly hatched single and had a craving for sushi all on the same night. All we’re missing is Dakota Fanning and we could have a killer remake of Little Women!

Coincidence that they are all there…..hmmm….just as much as a coincidence that both of the Gyllenhaal’s are famous AND childen of two Hollywod Moguls! (kids of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner. Their godmother is Jamie Lee Curtis and godfather is Paul Newman, wow!)
