Grab that mop and glow and press play, this my friends is gonna be good ole’ clean fun. “Hercules And Love Affair” (MySpace Site) may be my new favorite get-on-your-knees-and-scrub-that-shizz! music. With amazing back beats, a old school Casio keyboard inspired lead-line and horns that make you want to head on down to the speak easy for a little prohibition fun, this little duo kicks fanny. Their new song “Blind” (rightclick+save as) is by far the best song for the kitchen cleaning duties, and since “You Belong” (rightclick+save as) can be played on repeat, it may be a good one for the living room, we all know that sucker can get messy. Oh oh oh oh and “Hercules Theme” (rightclick+save as) must be played at high volume with a broom, and every time you hear “yeaaaaaaaaaa” you must stop for a lip-sync break. It’s only fair to you, the dust and the music. And “Easy” (rightclick+save as) for that final walk through to make sure everything is done before you pop your fet up and see what your Tivo has captured, Enjoy.

UPDATE: THIS WAS WRITTEN MONDAY APRIL 28th, APRIL 29th APPLE OFFERS “THE TING TINGS” AS THEIR WEEKLY DOWNLOAD. HMMMM….. COINCIDENCE?

thetingtings.jpg

Well, another music funk-show from the UK, “The Ting Tings” (Myspace Site) are getting spewed into the US Market, and but good! iTunes just released a new commercial, with a 80’s vibe and a killer new song by “The Ting Tings” called “Shut Up And Let Me Go.” I honestly was super tired and mildly hungover when I saw the commercial, but I had enough energy to press purchase on iTunes, and commence listening to it for the next 30 minutes straight. Then I scoured the internet for other versions and similar songs from them.

Like The White Stripes, to whom they are frequently compared, The Ting Tings believe in a clear division of labour. Katie White sings in a girlish purr and occasionally bashes her guitar; Jules de Martino pounds out frenetic rhythms while, via looped pedals, conjures weird, warm melodies that bathe the beats in a school-disco glow. (Like in this jam, “Fruit Machine“.) Get it, jam and fruit, like a play on words, its me, being clever, at 9am.

But White and de Martino aren’t exactly naifs — their last group, Dear Eskimo, was on the cusp of a breakthrough when their label yanked the plug; both have toiled for years in the trenches of support slots.

The Ting Tings’ debut album “We Started Nothing” is dropping May 19, 2008. Although their album has not yet been released, Jules and Kate are already being heralded as part of the top three of the BBC’s Sound of 2008 poll. These guys actually don’t have that much to do with the mood of boredom but I just really like this song. Enjoy!

nov122.gifAmy Winehouse reportedly fell asleep three times during an interview with a US Magazine last month.

In the interview with Jody Rosen, Winehouse spoke about her relationship with drugs and alcohol.

At one point when Winehouse awoke, she apologized to Rosen, saying: “Oh God, what is wrong with me? There’s something wrong with me. I’m just really drowsy at the moment. I’m so sorry.”

So what your saying is that during an interview, about drugs and alcohol, she falls asleep because of being super drowsy FROM drugs and alcohol. Well Jody Rosen, of US Magazine…I would say you got your answer to all questions regarding booze….they are in her 70 pound body just jiggling around. If I were CVS Pharmacy I would put in an offer with her liver to open up a mini-store.  You know, CVS Winehouse.

amy.gifFrom the Associated Press:

Police raided Amy Winehouse’s London home, using a crowbar to force open the door. The singer’s spokesman said she was not there at the time and that drugs were not involved.

British media said the raid was related to the arrest of Winehouse’s husband and several other men on suspicion of trying to pervert the course of justice. Photographs in British newspapers on Friday showed police officers forcing open the home in Camden, north London.

“The only thing I can tell you is that it has nothing to do with drugs and that Amy is fine and she has not been charged or arrested,” spokesman Shane O’Neill said.

It’s funny how they keep saying over and over and over that this is NOT FROM DRUGS. I think the one time would have been enough for us to understand that it isn’t, but now…I’m sorta thinking drugs. Drugs, Drugs and lots more Drugs.
