Now they have their debut LP, Partie Traumatic, out on July 22nd on Columbia Records. What’s the deal with it, you ask? Well first let me mention that it was produced by Bernard Butler of Suede. Butler’s sound is deeply ingrained in this album letting the Black Kids stream out a record heavy on the Cure/Suede amalgam. It almost brought a tear to my eye. The Black Kids have thoroughly invested themselves in this album (they really play their hearts out on it). Black Kids bring their energy and then some, but great production wasn’t sacrificed to capture it (a feat that’s much harder than it sounds). So if you’re in the mood for jump up and down disco funk indie sing along Suede/Cure jamboree music then pop in that audio jack and enjoy.

It’s a sweet little song that aptly describes new, young, puppy style love that goes through stages of “the right amount of awkward”.

Cheers to that!

Blend the old-school R&B sound with a quirky hybrid of hip-hop and pop and you get Little Jackie, the creation of genre-defying singer-songwriter Imani Coppola and programmer Adam Pallin. With a nod to the soulful Motown rhythms of the past and a sneer to many of the social and cultural issues that consume the public today, Coppola has crafted an album of musical sugar and spice, filled with sweet, saccharine-tinged melodies and spicy, bold commentaries.

I’m having one of those music-related/caused moments right now. I just listened through In Ghost Colours again with a little lump in my throat and I’ll be damned if Cut Copy hasn’t made the best album of 2008.

Perhaps its the fact that I always had a soft spot for The Verve and was never content with them being pigeon-holed into the “Oasis-sound-alikes” category (despite being out before Oasis), or perhaps the Oooh-oooh aaah-aaah noises in the song sound creepily great but the new single by the newly reformed (again) Verve is quite a decent song altogether. Check it out.

One of the best pop moments of the year is the mini temper-tantrum conveyed on the stompy hook to The Ting Tings’ “That’s Not My Name”, though it was never quite understood how anyone could think of TT super-hottie Katie White as a forgettable entity. Anyways, English rapper Dizzee Rascal takes on the dance fizzer in this Live Lounge cover.

Everyone loves a good party, and the fact that this one takes place in some random spot reserved in your brain for rediculous horns, back beats and whiney falsetto vocals is no reason to stray. The new Bloc Party single is by far one of their biggest leaps in the hardcore dance music scene.

So a freakin’ spitfire out of New Zealand called “Ladyhawke” released her single over seas on June 30, 2008 and I’m bloody’ happy about it! This Cut Copy remix is by far amazingly better than the original, guess it’s the familiar undertones of CC that keep me listening, but either way the chorus is hooking me like a whore on Las Vegas Blvd. Take a Listen and let me know what you think.
To quote “I wanted to capture the “happy sad” vibe that so many eighties classics had.” -L

We all loved having a Brim full of Asha, tonsand tons of Brims all over our Asha’s, and the sad thing none of us knew what the banana it meant. But, Cornershop is always there, in our head singing that damn song when we least expect it, even to this day I’ll pop out that ole’ ditty on a rainy Thursday and sing all the way home. So, in respect to the Brims and the Asha’s..here are three more tracks, including a oh-so-Bollywood M.I.A. remix.

Out there! There’s a world outside of YONKERS! Just saw Wall.E last night with my pal Jessica and I couldn’t get this freakin’ song outside of my head. So… here you go world! Find adventure in the evening air, and ride through town!

1) Annie is a little minx who I have loved for a while and this so is defiantly one of the reasons why. I literally cant wait to blare this on the roof deck this weekend for the Fourth!
2) Another amazing “always present on my playlist band” is The Kinks, this remix of Sunny Afternoon is a little bit Disco-y for me, but I can handle it, now a whole CD of this nonsense may be a bit much.
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon (Minitel Rose remix)
3) Taking it back, waaaaaaaaaaaaay back. (OK I’m not super old so that sounds a bit stupid) but everyone loves a good Soft Cell remix, and since “Tainted Love” has been covered by more artist than Madonna’s cooter, I’m a fan of bringing back the original.
Soft Cell - Tainted Love (C90s Remix)
4) ALWAYS a good one, anytime its on is killer Jackson 5 remix. No words, just download this sucker.
Jackson 5- I Want You Back The Walk (Roger Seventy Two Remix)
5) Slowing it down a little, pop this one on maybe after the fourth Bud Light or Mojito. Rubies are a tad new tome but I am starting to search for them more and more. This remix gives reason to do so.
Rubies- I Feel Electric (Feat. Feist) (TieDye Remix)
6) Now that your all wond down and relaxed, its time to get your fourth-freak on. I said it, you liked it, I know it, admit it, come on, just once, for real, what…?

Just when you think you’ve had enough Heidi Montag throws another one at us. Just last week a new track leaked from Heidi titled “Fashion”. It was an upgrade from more recent stuff and now we have another titled “One More Drink”. It’s like Summer’s Eve is producing a CD.
