Browsing in Spice Girls

Recalling the inaugural Shameless post, here’s a round-up of some of the best guilty pleasures you’ll ever find. Of course, the Spice Girls are necessary for any pop fan and aren’t even all that guilty of a pleasure considering their ubiquitous presence. Solo Spice Girls, however, are another story. As seen with Geri Halliwell, it’s not always so easy to admit to liking an ex-Spice Girl’s work. Regardless, I have a decent collection on my computer and feel the need to share, so feel free to anonymously download and listen in the privacy of your own headphones as needed. First up are two of Emma Bunton’s singles, both of which are excellent 60s bossa nova-infused retro pop numbers. Victoria Beckham has only released a few singles, but (if nothing else) her single “Let Your Head Go” is a throbbing dance track worth hearing. Previously featured Geri Halliwell flopped hard with her last album Passion, so the great “Love Never Loved Me” unfortunately never saw the light of day. After those selections, check out some hot remixes, including old and new Spice Girls club mixes and two Emma remixes.

Carrie Joins the Spice Girls in San Diego | Carrie Underwood Carrie Underwood, singing along during the Spice Girls’s San Diego concert. And the Carnival Ride singer was in the power seat – hanging next to American Idol creator and current Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller. In other news, Kate Hudson offering some (practical) fashion advice to Matthew McConaughey’s model girlfriend Camila Alves during a party at New York’s Gramercy Park hotel to celebrate Dolce & Gabbana’s men’s fragrance campaign. A source tells us that, at the end of the night, Hudson approached Alves (who was putting on her coat) and popped her collar before braving the cold.

From my pal over at Uhlikethat.com comes a Holiday CD like no other. We did a little preview last night while putting up the tree and lets just say that when you put it on shuffle and you get a little bit of the Chipmunks followed by Kellie Pickler, the only thing you can do to keep down your hot cocoa is simply sing along.

My favorite track has to be the Christmas Wrapping byt The Spice Girls…. and here is a little Spice Trivia from my buddy Oliver. Mel B and Victoria were both preggers during the recording of this song, so neither are featured on the track.

Track Listing:
1. Last Christmas - Ashley Tisdale
2. Greatest Time Of Year - Aly & AJ
3. My Only Wish (This Year) - Britney Spears
4. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
5. My Christmas Wish - Raven Symone
6. Merry Christmas Baby - Hanson
7. Christmas Wrapping - Spice Girls
8. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays - *NSYNC
9. Do You Hear What I Hear? - Carrie Underwood
10. Santa Baby - Kellie Pickler
11. Christmas When You Were Mine - Taylor Swift
12. Mistletoe - Colbie Caillat
13. Home For Christmas - Danity Kane
14. 8 Days Of Christmas - Destiny’s Child
15. Wizards In Winter - Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Bonus Track)
16. Christmas Don’t Be Late - The Chipmunks (Bonus Track)

Dear Britney, this is what we call a comeback…..The Spice Girls performed live in front of a star-studded audience last night for the first time in 7 years! And Hollywood’s hottest stars made sure they didn’t miss it for the world, as they came out in force to welcome back the ‘Girl Power’ group at the Victoria Secret Fashion show event for CBS.

Marking the US debut of the girls’ comeback tour, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell took to the stage to an audience including Orlando Bloom, Enrique Iglesias, Eva Longoria, Hilary and Haylie Duff, Hayden Panettiere, Slash and Jason Statham.

Although the group appeared to lip-sync both songs the crowd responded warmly.“It’s very emotional to be back on stage together, it evokes a lot of memories,” said Emma Bunton. Mel C added: “Rehearsals have been going great for the tour. We can’t wait to get on with the shows.” All the girls admitted they felt overdressed for the lingerie show but agreed they wouldn’t want to swap with the sexy Victoria Secrets Models.

Well, lip-sync…boom box….ventriloquist….speech impediment, i could care less. I’m happy someone in this town knows how to perform on a pre-recoded track. Much less five woman at the same time.
